The Inn In Me

“Oh,there a new place to snuggle into so appa and amma wouldn't find me,”little Samrudha thought to herself when she had ran out of places to play hide n seek with her parents. In the planet of Gammkama everyone had a high level of patience and inviting nature towards the young girl who stole everyone’s hearts with her melting smile. The young girl , Samrudha was a chubby little girl who enjoyed all the luxury and love showered on her every moment of the day.She appeared to be very unique because of the four hands and legs she posses. In Gammakama everyone had only 3 hands ,three legs and 3 hemispheres in the brain. What everyone could see was that she had 4 hands and legs but she also had 4 brains and no one knew about it.It would rather be shameful to tell everyone because she was slower than the other children in processing what she learnt. But nothing stopped her from playing all day and finding  new places in the house and street to hide in.

Playing all day and figuring out the constantly changing house she lived in was Samrudha’s daily agenda. It was usual to see the kitchen moving from the left to the top floor while the room takes its place down stairs where the kitchen was before.Being very absent minded Samrudha has walked into the wall several times and had to be rushed to the doctor for stitching up the opened wound.Thankfully the door never moved because if Samrudha had decided to go for breakfast to one of her friends house she would have ended up in the kitchen with Lavanya her mother trying to feed her with all the patience she could gather. It had been one of the five year old girl’s hobbies to walk out and inside anyone house at any time in the street if their door was open. While Samrudha followed her hearts desire to walk every where Lavanya followed her child to drag her back home and at least see the homework given to her.

When it comes to school and studying Samrudha had an easy way out as this where she used her mind at least a little.Once she comes from school she’ll leave her bag next to the door so it stays there for the extended time she takes to sallow her snack and wake from her nap.Once she wakes up very slowly while her sister monica is being put to sleep, she’ll get her bag and put it in a place where it always not visible even when it moved that was the small space the fridge had.Once she’s done with this she’ll play all day with her cute little baby sister Monica a gourmand, who cried for almost everything.Samrudha relished all luxury and love showered on her every moment of the day without realizing that her life is never going to be the same.

One day her parents said that we’ll be visiting the neighbouring planet called earth. It quite famous in the Milky way galaxy gazette that was an yearly update of what is happening on every celestial object in the galaxy. But being very closed in the mind the first thing she always felt was fear.It was like a fear of new things, places, mostly PEOPLE.They were like danger alerts for her.

On setting foot on the ground it seemed like she was on fire. Her instant love for the place was exhibited in her openness by the way she ran around the large lawn which had a few trees, unaware of the fact  that it was a school and they’d come for an admission .Meanwhile, her parents had seen the simple, but beautifully architected building in which there were rooms and a montessori environment set for the coming year of school .

EARTH DAY '24 - THE FACTS

It's  2024 and Global temperatures are rising at an alarming rate . The average surface temperature has increased almost 1.5°C (about 2.5°F) . The loss of biodiversity disrupts entire ecosystems, impacting everything from clean water to food chains. 58% of the global population, or 3.8 billion people face water scarcity and we should question the loss of biodiversity in another post, as the list is longer than ours! Thanks to our ignorance of other residents we share our planet with ! The oceans are not giant trash cans! 88% of water is filled with plastics. We are at the situation of consuming air polluted at 53.3 micrograms per cubic meter. Now I'm not surprised 544.9 million people in the world face breathing issues!  Deforestation, desertification, and other forms of land degradation are reducing the Earth's land productivity.  1.83 billion trees are planted every year, while 15.3 billion are cut down due to human activity. This means that one tree is planted for...

A green shadow

In the midst of emerald fields, Where nature's beauty never yields, Lies a shadow, deep and green, A sight that's rarely seen. It dances among the trees, Whispering secrets on the breeze, A cloak of verdant hue, A symbol of life anew. It stretches across the land, A guardian, strong and grand, Protecting all that lies beneath, From the harshness of the heat. It's a reminder of the earth's embrace, A symbol of its endless grace, For without this green shadow, Our world would surely fallow. It's a haven for creatures small, A shelter for them all, A place to rest and hide, From the scorching sun outside. But this shadow is more than just a shield, It's a symbol of life, forever sealed, For without the greenery it holds, Our world would be barren and cold. So let us cherish this green shadow, For it's a gift from nature, we must know, A reminder of the earth's might, And the beauty of its green light. - Bharathi Senthilkumar
