Survival vs. Success

It's a common misconception that survival and success are synonymous. While surviving challenges is undoubtedly a significant achievement, it doesn't necessarily equate to a fulfilling life. This post attempts to give perspective into the nuances of survival and success, exploring how they intersect and diverge.

Historically, survival was the primary goal of human existence. Hunters and gatherers faced daily threats from predators and environmental factors. Their ability to adapt and overcome these challenges was paramount. Today, while our immediate threats have evolved, the fundamental need for survival persists.

However, success is more than just staying alive. It involves achieving a sense of fulfillment, purpose, and well-being. This can be achieved through personal growth, career advancement, meaningful relationships, or contributions to society.

Innovation has been a double-edged sword. It's increased our odds of survival, but it's also created new complexities. The pursuit of success often involves navigating these complexities, which can feel like a labyrinth without a map.

Ultimately, happiness is a key component of success. A life filled with purpose, meaning, and positive experiences is likely to be perceived as successful, regardless of external achievements.

Surviving is cool and all, but it's not enough. You got to do more than just stay alive. You need to make your life awesome! Grow as a person, have rad friends, and make a difference in the world. That's what's up!"

Book Review – Democrazy

I recently read Democrazy during a long train journey from my hometown to Chennai, and it was quite an engaging experience. The book offers a satirical take on democracy, exploring why ordinary citizens often feel they can question the system but find it difficult to bring about meaningful change. While referencing the famous phrase “for the people, by the people”, it examines how the idea sometimes appears complicated in practice, despite being outlined in one of the longest constitutions in the world. The author uses humor and sharp observation to present scenarios that oscillate between amusing and thought-provoking. The narrative describes different forms of challenges faced by citizens—such as bribery, exploitation, and bureaucratic hurdles—through a cast of fictional characters: a head of government, an ambitious family member, a veteran party member, an influential industrialist, a sincere journalist, a socially active citizen (particularly on social media), a strict school prin...

Sathuragiri experience

Sathuragiri is a pilgrimage site located in the district of Virudhunagar in Tamilnadu. The hills are actually a part of the Western Ghats. The name is in Tamil, as 'chaturam' means square and 'giri' means mountain. Many people say the the hill is square-shaped, so that's where the name originates from. I saw that the temple built around the 2 'suyambu' lingam or the two idols that are not installed by any person but they exist on their own is in the middle of 4 different hills.  Our group consisted of 4 girls and their fathers and four other uncles. Everyone was a school friend except my father, our group’s leader and another uncle. Everyone is such an amazing person. We had great fun throughout the entire journey. They all taught me so much by talking about their life experiences and many other incidents that changed their lives. We began our trek from a madam at the foot of the hills in SriVilliputhur. Filled with adventurous paths, I had great fun a...

Books can change your attitude towards life by giving you a new perspective! It helps you slip into a world without too many problems, a flawless place where characters are actually characters, meaning they don't influence your life fully but partially! Learning about different cultures and looking into the daily lives of different people, has an enormous effect on your behaviour. Just that it helps you to learn from the mistakes made in history, whether it led to success or disasters you'll learn from it.  There is a wide range of books from fiction to biography, literally on every topic we are interested in. I feel people should just read...
